Emily sent me some pics, and as of last weekend the new orchard ground was greening up nicely. Last she checked the crop was about 6 inches high. We’re off to a good start, so long as it doesn’t get too dry.
From the northwest corner it looks like this:
Zooming in a bit, you can see the seedlings working their way up out of the rough soil:
There’s oats (the grassy looking stuff), peas (big roundish leaves, a bit like clover), and vetch (small, elongated, wispy leaves):
